I guess Steph still doesn't like them, but Tine has some wonderful birds pictures on her blog. She even has a woodpecker in the garden, and a baby woodpecker is obviously learning to fly as well. He just needs to learn to avoid windows... He's apparently fine though.
When I got home, I cleaned out the nesting cage of the Blue Tits, and I'm hoping to see more nesting activity soon, although I guess I'll have to wait till next year. I'll look it all up online and if blue tits only nest once a year, I think I'll build a new and more technologically advanced nesting cage, with build in webcam or something like that, so I can watch the birdies grow without bothering them too much. Certainly a project that can easily be accomplished with a budget of less than € 50, all required materials included.
That'll be something to work out later.
Oh, interesting article on Japan trying to cut back their dependence on oil in the NY Times. (Japan Squeezes to Get the Most of Costly Fuel)

blue tits (although i rarely see any around here, only great tits) can nest up to as much as 3 times a year although they usually only nest twice a year. it's not always the same family that uses the box, either.
